WHO WE ARE
We are painters, musicians, writers, thinkers, dreamers, and entrepreneurs who believe in the power of art to enthrall the spirit, empower the marginalized, promote human connection, and innervate the "mundane" with meaning. Whether whimsical or solemn, we aim to translate our experiences into color and line, figure and form - i.e. into art with the capacity to transform the viewer's moments into experiences of their own; we seek to build meaning together with the viewer. Natives of Kansas City who have traveled throughout the country, we are committed to the principles of inclusivity, equality, environmental justice, and embracing diversity in all aspects of life.
Chauncey J. Geier
Born and raised in Kansas City, I began my formal art training at The Paseo Academy of Fine Arts. I was born with congenital glaucoma and am now legally blind. Growing up in downtown KC, my art is inspired by Kansas City's vibrant street art culture as well as the intensity and diversity of urban life. As a former professional rollerblader, I use kinetic line-work and color to capture movement and energy - both the vibrancy of the city and the power of nature. My main focus is developing dynamic character portraits and creating fresh interpretations of representational style; I also enjoy doing graffiti and other forms of urban style art on canvas. I do art for love of it and as a perpetual student. In between painting sessions, I enjoy playing video games, listening to podcasts, and spending time with my friends and two dogs.

I am enthusiastically interdisciplinary. As a writer, musician, and philosophy enthusiast, my art is strongly influenced by the intersection of these endeavors. Highly textured and intricately detailed, my pieces use symbols, bold color, and elements of nature. These elements draw in the audience to both evoke memory and to form a bridge of understanding. I believe my work is only partially 'mine,' for the other share of work is done by the viewer as they bring their life of experiences and interpretations to the viewing; in this I find communion. I am a native of Kansas City, Missouri, with little formal art training, who has been lucky to have many lives - as a classically trained violinist, a poet, a cook and baker, a philosophy professor, a tax examiner, and caregiver - and who has recently returned to painting after twenty years. When I'm not painting, I enjoy writing, reading, gardening, and foisting my culinary explorations upon my loved ones.
